IOSH Working Safely course gets construction industry recognition!

IOSH Working safely is recognised as an equivalent to a level 1 award in health and safety in a construction environment. This means that delegates who successfully complete it can apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green Labourer card once they’ve passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test.

SES run regular scheduled 1 day IOSH Working Safely courses from our training centre in Essex. We can also run 'on site' IOSH Working Safely courses at your premises or arrange a course specifically for you at our training centre.

Outline

This IOSH working safely course is designed specifically to train employees from a wide range of backgrounds the basic principles of health and safety in the workplace. The course covers the fundamentals of working safely especially the importance of individual

responsibilities when it comes to workplace accidents. This course is suitable for anyone in any working environment.

PLEASE NOTE: IOSH Working safely is recognised as an equivalent to a level 1 award in health and safety in a construction environment. This means that delegates who successfully complete it can apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green Labourer card once they’ve passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test.

Duration

A minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities, plus some pre-course activity could be required.

IOSH Working Safely Course Content:

The IOSH Working Safely course is focused on hazards and risks with candidates learning:

1. How to use risk assessments to reduce risks

2. Why it’s important to follow safety measures implemented as a result of risk assessments

3. How to identify common hazards such as:

Manual handling
Trips, slips and falls
Chemicals
Electricity
Fire
Entrances and exits
Traffic
Noise
Stress
Physical and verbal abuse

4. How to Improve Safety Performance

The last part of the course helps demystify much of the jargon often used in the health and safety industry. It helps candidates understand how managers and supervisors can apply the working safely processes to their normal working day. It also covers the following things:

Safe systems
Permits
Contract work
Health checks
Equipment
Signs
Emergency procedures.

This final part of the working safely course is focused on your working environment and how to reduce the environmental impact of your working practices.

Certification

At the end of the course you will sit a short 20 minute exam including 10 questions and a hazard spotting exercise.

On completion of this course all candidates will be awarded a health and safety certificate.
