The Government has announced changes to Part L
of the Building Regulations (conservation of fuel and power) and the energy
efficiency requirements in the Building Regulations for England. Under the
revisions announced, new build homes will have to be 6% more energy efficient
than under current regulations. In addition there will also be an uplift in
efficiency standards of 9% for non-domestic buildings. Both these
figures are a reduction on those initially proposed in the consultation last
April (8% for new build and 20% for non-domestic). No announcement has been
made yet regarding transitional requirements.
