FAA Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF) - Essex


SES provide Paediatric First Aid Courses from our training centres in Colchester, Essex and Takeley, Essex. We are also able to provide in-house training if required. SES provide first aid training to suit everyones needs, including a range of courses for members of the public and in the workplace. We also offer bespoke courses for specific groups - such as school groups, people with disabilities or sports teams – that focus on their particular needs.

This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, creche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care.

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a nationally accredited Level 2 Award.

This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED.

In order to obtain this qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units accreditation.

Duration
A minimum of 12 hours makes up these two units consisting of theoretical and practical work.

Syllabus
A range of subjects is covered including:
  • Responsibilites and Reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Infantile convulsions
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Eye injuries
  • Sickle cell anaemia
  • Resuscitation
  • Head injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Foreign Bodies
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Heat and Cold
  • Fainting
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Meningitis
  • Burns
  • Asthma
Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor in respect of the student's practical skills and there will be multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of their knowledge

Numbers
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course.

Age Limit
Students must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to an assessment. A student cannot assume responsibility in the workplace for children and infants until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer's responsbility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.
The certificate will expire as dated on the certificate, irrespective of age.
